We moved to this little house in July 2017. The back porch was enclosed with screen and trellis board. We loved the screened-in space and vowed to improve it.

Along came our first winter in the north in about 22 years. We have two dogs who didn’t have their own space, so they shared ours. Our kitchen, to be exact. For the entire winter. Now, they stayed in their kennels and were perfectly comfortable, but I wasn’t. I wasn’t used to having dogs inside.

Spring came (finally), and we asked our handy-dandy nephew-in-law to make the back porch a doggy haven. I had a sunroom in mind, and we combined them. Jim did all the construction work, with occasional help from his buddy, Brett.

It was the first time in 22 years that I had to choose floors, walls, windows, etc. It ended up as a compromise between what we could afford and what we wanted. I think it turned out great!
